The Super Mario Galaxy Movie Teaser Is Here, Introducing Fresh Faces Rosalina & Bowser Jr. Voice Cast
Nintendo alongside Illumination unveiled the initial complete preview for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie on Wednesday. The reveal happened in a dedicated Nintendo presentation that centered on the upcoming animated film.
Following up on the 2023 hit film The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this new installment will propel Mario to the far corners of the universe. There, he will encounter a different royal figure and a challenging new adversary in Bowser Jr., the offspring of the Koopa King.
A Cosmic Adventure Inspired by Beloved Titles
Much like the games from the Wii period that act as its source material, Mario will leave behind the cozy environment of the Mushroom Kingdom to explore outer space. On his epic voyage, he will meet again some well-known personalities, such as the Luma, a fan favorite from the first movie.
However, it seems Mario and his brother Luigi will battle a different foe in the form of Bowser's angry little boy, who reportedly commands metallic abilities. Worth mentioning, the teaser for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not exclusively centered on Galaxy-themed scenes; it also contains hints to other beloved games like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.
All-Star Vocal Ensemble Reprise Roles and Welcome Newcomers
The movie will feature once again of the primary vocal talent, with Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.
Joining the cast for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will bring to life Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to represent Bowser Jr. This was confirmed by the CEO of Illumination, Chris Meledandri.
A Significant Period for Mario
The upcoming Mario film is set to release near the 40th anniversary of the original Super Mario Bros. game. In addition to the movie, 2026 is shaping up to be a major period for Mario and his friends.
Nintendo has three new games already confirmed for 2026, featuring Mario Tennis Fever, a version for Switch 2 of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a latest Yoshi adventure game titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.
Launch Date Set
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is scheduled to hit theaters on April 3, 2026.
