Since the launch of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master the talented storyteller has maintained audience suspense with extensive world-building, a colorful mix of characters, and a gripping narrative featuring celestial beings, evil spirits, and sinister influences increasing in influence within the urban setting.
Note: Key plot points for the third episode of this adventure lie ahead.
The Soldiers Table Introduced
The latest chapter finished on a dramatic pause and revealed the premier party of heroes who will branch out from the central cast to embark on their independent quest, separate from the other two tables.
The Soldiers table features Teor (brought to life by Travis), the agile character (Laura), Tyranny (Whitney Moore), Wicander (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan (Robbie Daymond).
The Reason for Division
With 13 cast members, it was clear from the outset that maintaining everyone at a single group would be unfeasible.
This explains, the first four episodes of Campaign 4 serve as an Overture, intertwining the individual narratives before dividing into three smaller tables: Fighters, Schemers, and Seekers.
Characteristics of the Soldiers Table
As described by Brennan Lee Mulligan, the Soldiers table is for participants who are drawn to a typically action-packed fight-heavy narrative style where peaceful solutions are rare.
At first glance, characters like the hesitant healer Wicander Halovar might seem mismatched, but the events of episode 3 make it clear why these five characters are ideally matched for the Soldiers table.
Reasons to Leave
For one thing, the party has a clear idea where to go next after a violent opening clash with The Crow Keepers.
Casimir of Thjazi—whose death started the campaign’s events—used the foes for his own means, entering the secret base, attacking the rogue, and stealing all the enchanted items to dispose of.
The traitor then paid off his debts and escaped to a secure base in the remote area, above the urban center, with Teor’s brother close behind.
Character Drivers
Additionally, each character has a personal reason to depart the urban setting:
- Thimble, as the companion and best friend, seeks retribution.
- The knowledgeable figure knows the region and advises that it is a dangerous environment.
- The strong character and The healer, having defied his family’s wishes to execute the target and instead freed him, have no other options.
- But, their status as important members in House Halovar could assist the team reach places they usually can’t.
- Moreover, The grateful character swore a life debt to Wicander for his rescue and will now follow him everywhere.
Fugitives
In addition, all of them are wanted by the authorities that rule the setting for a variety of reasons, making lingering locally dangerous:
- Thimble and The hero are known criminals.
- The warrior and The cleric betrayed the influential house and the army of fiends they are allied with.
- The target is targeted for elimination by the clan.
This leaves them little choice but to travel to the remote area in search of the antagonist.
