Paris Saint-Germain Defeats Marseille in a Shootout to Claim French Super Cup in Kuwait.

PSG players celebrating

The Parisian club has now claimed the prestigious cup on fourteen different occasions.

The Parisian giants required a dramatic leveler followed by a successful penalty shootout to overcome Marseille in Kuwait and secure a fourth straight Trophee des Champions title.

The Champions League holders appeared to be sailing towards a comfortable triumph in the showdown between the Ligue 1 champions and the Coupe de France holders after the French winger opened the scoring in the opening stages.

Yet, Marseille fired two times in the closing moments to seize a shock lead. Initially, the English forward scored from the penalty spot, before Willian Pacho inadvertently directed the ball into his own net for an own-goal.

In a remarkable twist of events, Goncalo Ramos snatched a crucial leveler in the dying seconds to force the contest into a deciding shootout. PSG goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier then stood as the hero, stopping crucial kicks from O'Riley and Traore.

From the spot, Goncalo Ramos, the midfielder, Nuno Mendes, and Desire Doue all converted successfully for PSG to complete a convincing shootout victory.

Now 14-time champions Paris Saint-Germain, who faced last season's Ligue 1 second-placed team Marseille after achieving a league and cup double, have now won this competition for the twelfth time in the last 13 years.
