Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson are set to appear in the new Hunger Games series film, The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping.
Reports indicate that beloved stars Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson will reprise their iconic roles in the next chapter of the Hunger Games film series, titled The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping. The project is now in the works.
A Significant Return to Panem
Lawrence and Hutcherson are slated to play Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark, respectively. It is believed their cameos will take the form of a flash-forward sequence, as the main film series concluded with their characters living in peace.
This represents the sixth film in the blockbuster Hunger Games franchise.
Exploring the New Story
Sunrise on the Reaping draws its story from a recent book by author Suzanne Collins. It will be the follow-up prequel after 2023's The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes. Returning to the director's chair is Francis Lawrence, who has helmed nearly all the previous films in the series.
The Storyline and Fresh Faces
The film's story are set roughly two decades prior to the first Hunger Games, spotlighting a young Haymitch Abernathy. Haymitch, who would later become Katniss's mentor, is portrayed as a tribute in the notorious 50th Hunger Games.
The supporting roles feature several accomplished actors in key parts:
- Jesse Plemons steps into the role of Plutarch Heavensbee.
- Ralph Fiennes will appear as a younger version of the calculating President Snow.
What the Stars Are Doing Now & The Film's Schedule
Separately, Jennifer Lawrence stars in the film Die My Love. Josh Hutcherson stars in the sequel to the hit horror film Five Nights at Freddy's 2.
