Indianapolis Colts Battle Atlanta Falcons in German Capital – Week 10 NFL Action

Guten tag, football fans. How are you? Alles klar I trust on this fine early start to week 10 coming directly from Germany. Berlin's Olympic Stadium to be precise where at 9:30 AM EST and 2:30 PM GMT the mighty Colts (7-2) take on the Atlanta Falcons (three wins and five losses). The fifth game played on soil in Germany and the initial in the capital city.

Pre-match Highlights

As sparkly jackets go that is an absolute belter from Katarina Witt on the opening flip. A slight fluff from the broadcast team there as we hear “which team got the coin flip?” from the presenter with an accidentally live microphone.

So, the Colts have won the toss and have elected to receive. Daniel Jones and company will be taking the field soon. Can the quarterback recover after a rough one in their last game?

Not to be outdone the vocalist performing the Star Spangled Banner has some of the biggest shoulder embellishments you are ever likely to see. Loving the sartorial choices today. The game is about to start after a choir performance for the German anthem. Elegant.

Opening Period Action

Colts 0-0 Falcons 13:30, 1st quarter

Here we go! And we have an exciting start after the Colts running back receives a short throw, sweeps out for 15 yards to the right then loses the ball … only for his offensive lineman to recover the fumble with the recovery. Indianapolis quickly moves into Atlanta's half.

Still scoreless at 10:51

And the drama keeps coming as the Colts go for it on 4th down. The gamble fails to pay off as the wide receiver cannot reel in a fastball from the quarterback. Prior to the failed attempt Jessie Bates put a massive tackle on the Colts' tight end. The Falcons have come out fighting on defense as they try and snap their three-game losing streak. Next up Sauce Garner’s debut!

Touchdown Updates

TOUCHDOWN! Colts 6-0 Falcons 8:36, 1st quarter

Was that a missed touchdown by Kyle Pitts? The tight end drops a clanger, he was very open but the ball just swishes through his hands. That play rather sums up the first round pick’s career to date.

So far, so disappointing but it only gets worse for the Falcons as they cough the ball back to the Colts on the 23-yard mark. The Falcons quarterback is hunted down and can’t keep hold of the ball.

An agile 22-yard rush from the Colts receiver sets Jonathan Taylor up to easily run for a touchdown on the following play. Kicker Michael Badgley skews the extra point wide. Oops.

Falcons respond: 6-7 at 6:07

The quarterback recovers from the turnover by leading Atlanta on a long drive for a touchdown. Drake London makes some chunky receptions to put them in the red zone then the defense opens up for Tyler Allgeier to run untouched into the end zone through the heart of the field for a 13-yard gain. He completes the drive for a short scoring run of his own. Advantage Atlanta.

Other Week 10 Matchups

Additionally, the jumbo package starting at 12pm CST/1pm EST/6pm GMT (with home teams first) is as follows:

  • (5-4) Carolina Panthers v Saints (1-8)

  • (5-3) Bears v New York Giants (2-7)

  • (3-5) Houston Texans v Jaguars (5-3)

  • (2-7) Miami Dolphins v Buffalo Bills (6-2)

  • (4-4) Minnesota Vikings v Ravens (3-5)

  • (1-7) New York Jets v Cleveland Browns (2-6)

  • (6-2) Tampa Bay Buccaneers v Patriots (7-2)

What a feast. My pick for the best game is Minnesota and Baltimore playing out the top contest of the day.
