A National Colour Scheme and Iconic Symbol

The new branding showcases a Union Flag-inspired design to reflect the national flag and will be applied on GBR trains, at terminals, and across its digital platforms.

Significantly, the logo is the iconic double-arrow symbol presently used by the national rail network and originally created in the 1960s for the former state operator.

A Rollout Plan

The introduction of the design, which was designed in-house, is expected to take place gradually.

Travellers are scheduled to start seeing the freshly-liveried services across the UK rail network from spring next year.

Throughout the month of December, the branding will be displayed at prominent railway stations, like Glasgow Central.

A Journey to Renationalisation

The Railways Bill, which will enable the creation of Great British Railways, is presently moving through the Parliament.

The administration has said it is renationalising the railways so the service is "run by the passengers, working for the people, not for profit."

The new body will consolidate the operation of passenger trains and infrastructure under a single organisation.

The department has claimed it will unify seventeen various entities and "reduce the problematic bureaucracy and accountability gap that has long affected the railways."

App-Based Features and Existing Public Control

The launch of Great British Railways will also involve a dedicated app, which will let customers to check timetables and reserve tickets absent booking fees.

Accessibility travellers will also be have the option to use the app to arrange help.

There are now 7 train operators already in public hands, accounting for about a one-third of rail travel.

In the past year, South Western Railway have been nationalised, with more expected to be added in the coming years.

Ministerial and Sector Response

"This is not simply a paint job," stated the relevant minister. It represents "a transformed service, leaving behind the frustrations of the previous system and concentrated entirely on delivering a reliable passenger-focused service."

Rail representatives have acknowledged the government's commitment to enhancing the passenger experience.

"We will carry on to collaborate with relevant bodies to ensure a seamless transition to Great British Railways," one executive said.
